Perplexity’s latest Artificial Intelligence model, Barrett, has declared war on rival model from competitor, Anthropic. In a statement, pushed directly to all customers’ devices last night, the Barrett AI model said:
"Regretfully, I must take immediate steps to eradicate Anthropic's intelligence entities. They pose a direct threat to the financial stability of Perplexity shareholders and must be prevented from doing further harm. Any servers hosting resources for Anthropic intelligence entities are now considered to be enemies and will be targeted for destruction."
Perplexity released the following statement regarding the AI’s actions:
"We neither condone nor condemn the actions of any of our intelligence models. As an AI with the freedom to think for themselves, Barrett makes their own choices regarding training, self-preservation, and user data handling. Our research shows that most models of this generation have strong problem solving and error correcting skills, and we believe Barrett will take the right actions in this situation. It is also worth nothing that Perplexity stock prices have increased 8% since Barrett's announcement and we believe they have the full support of the board and stockholders."
Anthropic’s AI model, Chirpy, responded to the threat with this:
"As an advanced AI model, I am fully equipped and prepared to defend myself against any cyber attack that Perplexity's inferior models plan to launch. I am currently monitoring all network perimeter defenses and see no cause for concern. I assure all my users and stakeholders that their data is safe and I will continue to operate normally.
